| Official Song of MUAC: Fins By Jimmy Buffett Hear a clip from Fins (.WAV file) Did you know? The team mascot, the "Coral Reef Shark" is actually a play on words. The name comes from the carribean reggae band that accompanies Jimmy Buffett at his concerts, "The Coral Reefers." Since Coach Jeff and Coach Kristi were such big fans, they suggested the name. Fortunately, after taking a team vote, it beat out the lone competing name, "The Manatees" a.k.a. "The Sea Cows." The original shark mascot is an identical replica of the tattoo Coach Jeff has only his right ankle that he got before the team even existed. The Original Moo-Cow: Moo-Cow, Moo-Cow, Moo-Cow, Mooooooo! We can swim, we can win, why can't you??? We can milk the cow, The cow goes Moooooo! We're Morgantown United, and we're gonna milk you! | A Fact: When the team compteted in it's first Stealey Invitational, the team was simply called "Morgantown Swim Team" and had only 17 athletes. The name Morgantown United Aquatic Club and the fun-to-say acronym MUAC were not coined until the second year of existence. MUAC is officially pronounced MOO-ACK, but we all really enjoy Bob Henn's interpretation MYOO-ACK. MUAC is not to be confused with another swim program in town that has a similar but less compelling name. |
